Dementia Awareness Week is happening again this year from September 16-26

We are excited to give you an update on the wide range of activities for NSW
.

The theme of our national awareness campaign is: ‘Worried about your Memory – call the National Dementia Helpline 1800 100 500’.

Another exciting element for DAW 2010 is an information program involving GP waiting rooms. Brochures will be distributed to larger GP clinic waiting rooms in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Port Macquarie and Tweed areas. These will be prominently displayed on Health Information notice boards (see photo below). This program is anticipated to be 14-months’ duration, thus covering DAW in 2010 & 2011.

Alzheimer’s Australia will launch new publications to support the awareness campaign. Titled ‘Worried about your memory?’

Other NSW DAW 2010 activities include:

• Our 2nd Annual Badge Day on Tuesday 21 September (World Alzheimer’s Day)

• Launch of the ‘NSW Dementia Services Framework’ in conjuntion with NSW DoH, Office for Ageing and ADHC, at the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Dementia event at NSW Parliament House

• Memory Walks in Sydney and Port Macquarie (Sunday 26 Sept), and Wollongong- Illawarra (Saturday 11 Sept)

• A street banner campaign in the City of Sydney

• Memory Van visits to selected areas during DAW
