Research
Most of our current knowledge about dementia has been discovered by researchers in the last 15 to 20 years. We must invest in dementia research now to promote continuing advances and bring hope for all people with dementia and their families.

A draft paper outlining the basis for the establishment of a Consumer Dementia Research Network under the auspices of Alzheimer’s Australia and in partnership with the three Dementia Collaborative Research Centres was distributed at the recent National Dementia Research Forum held in Sydney.

Consumer Involvement in Dementia Care Research

In 2006 Dr Colleen Doyle from La Trobe University was awarded an AAR Travelling Scholarship, which enabled her to travel to the US and the UK to investigate the role of consumers in dementia care research, policy and program evaluation.
The Dementia Collaborative Research Centres were established in 2006 under the Australian Government’s Dementia: A Health Priority Initiative.
